Nancy Fernández is a classical realist painter. Her medium of choice is oil because of the possibilities of achieving clear textures with it. She considers herself a classical realist painter with still life as her preferred subject. She was trained at one of the most prestigious art academies in Italy, the Angel Academy of Art, Florence. The Academy teaches drawing and painting in the old-masters tradition, with the curriculum and teaching techniques grounded in those of the 19th-century European academies.
